Proverbs 16:3

Sharing a poem from long ago. Here, I was interpreting bible verses through poetry. I have several notebooks of poetry that I have never shared and never will because a lot of them have been lost or thrown out.  I am finding as many as I can and sharing the saved ones peppered through my blog.

Proverbs 16:3

This is for death
and how blessed it can be
if the breath before it
was inhaled
for the sake
Of the giving
This is for the living
Our emission
We cast
Bandaging
the broken
Bones
Ribbed with broken
hearts
caged
Butterflies
Kept in glass jars
For our own gain
To inspire
looking up
At the stars
Forgetting the
Transformation
Inspired by wings
We left
Kept
on a shelf
Bewildered
By The Book
Expressed from
One stance
That won't grow
wondering
Why it can
No longer fly
Or inspire trust
Asking ourselves what
Is the potential that guides us
Where it comes from
and the tragedy
of what we could have accomplished.
And the plans
Established
Through you
So sing
Your song
Play your
Own voice
with the whole symphony
Of every choice
Choosing
Simplicity
Of the essence
Of your offering
Instead of slaughtering.
Capturing those
Who already fly
Denied
Of freedom
To give
What they
Came here for
The transaction
Set here before
With the highest
Of ourselves
Give the world
all that you
Have got
If not…
God will come
and show us what we could have done.
What we could have been
and what are we going to say
to Him
when all we have
to show
are blood stains
lost soldiers,
starving children
sky scrapers
scraping at His skies
Lightning
struck
In our time
That was given
Driven by
Pain
broken hearts
And eyes that cried
Of our children
He sent
Right to us
Ruined by
Blind desires
And distrust
Of a higher plan
God sees diamonds
Through the prism.
Infinite bars
Of fractals
shining
prisons
created
By our falsehoods
And other things
That shine.
